United Stars Live On A Diet Of Beer And Burgers

Former Man United player Gerard Pique has come out with some information on what the players really eat at United, I am not quite sure if he is having a swipe or not.

Pique has said that Manchester United staff allow the players to eat whatever they want and that most players live on a diet of burgers and beer. Pique has also said that he is surprised that most of the players aren't fat and have broken the fat scales which they are tested on every few weeks.

Pique told Sport: "At United there were some incredible things happening. Everyone was allowed to eat what they wanted and one must remember that the English diet is just like people say.
"Every two weeks we had to be checked out on a machine that measured the amount of fat we had in our bodies.
"It would be a surprise that none of the players broke the machine because of the amount of hamburgers and beer they had.
"The gaffer, as Ferguson is known in Manchester, spoke in English with a Scottish accent but it sounded like Chinese to me.
"But I was not the worst and there are players still there who do not understand him yet."

Now, I am not quite sure if this is true because I can't understand how top footballers can live on a really bad diet and still manage to play 90 minutes of Premier League football.
Secondly if this is true then I don't see what he is complaining about because he can choose to eat what he wants if he wants to eat junk then he can and if he wants to eat healthily then he can.

My third point is that Manchester United won the Premier League and Champion's League last season, United also won the Premier League the previous season and we got to the FA Cup final so if the diet works then there is not point moaning about it.

I cannot imagine that players such as Ronaldo, Nani, Giggs, Vidic, Ferdinand, Van Der Sar, Park, Scholes etc live on a bad diet, especially a player as self conscious as Ronaldo because it would do havoc with his skin.
