It is the draw for the knockout stages of the UEFA Champion's League today so I thought that I would tell you a bit more about the teams that Man United could face.

There was a practise draw done yesterday and Man United were drawn against who else but Real Madrid.
Man United cannot be drawn against the other three English teams (Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool) or the team which they were with in the group stage- Villarreal.

Atletico Madrid
Atletico Madrid are a Spanish team based in Madrid, they were in Liverpool's group who they drew 1-1 with in both matches. Atletico haven't won the European Cup/Champion's League but they were runners up in the 1974-74 season. Atletico won the Intercontinental Cup in 1974.
Atletico have won the UEFA Cup which was in the 1961-62 season, they were runners up in the competition in 1962–63 and 1985–86.
Atletico Madrid won the Intertoto Cup in 2007 and they were runners up in 2004.

Inter Milan
Inter Milan's manager is Mourinho and he has a little bit of history with Man United manager Sir Alex Ferguson. Inter are an Italian team and they are based in Milan. Inter were in Panathinaikos' group who they beat 2-0 away and lost to 1-0 at home.
Inter Milan have been European Champion's twice which was in 1963-64 and 1964-65. They have also been runners up in this competition twice- 1966–67 and 1971–72.
Inter have won the UEFA Cup three times- 1990–91, 1993–94, 1997–98 and runners up once- 1996-97.
Inter have been the Intercontinental Cup Champion's twice- 1964 and 1965.

Lyon
Manchester United played Lyon at the same stage last year and they proved to be a difficult team to beat. Lyon were in Bayern Munich's group who they drew with 1-1 away and lost to 3-2 at home.
Lyon won the UEFA Intertoto Cup in 1997.

Real Madrid
Real Madrid are a Spanish team and they have quite a record in European football. They were in Juventus' group who they lost to 2-1 away and they lost to 2-0 at home.
Real Madrid have won the UEFA Champion's League an amazing nine times (which is a record amount of times)- 1955–56, 1956–57, 1957–58, 1958–59, 1959–60, 1965–66, 1997–98, 1999–2000 and in 2001–02.
Real have been runners up in the competition three times- 1961–62, 1963–64 and 1980–81.
Real have won the Intercontinental Cup three times which is also a record, they won it in 1960, 1998 and in 2002. They have been runners up twice- 1966 and 2000.
Real have won the UEFA Cup twice- 1984–85 and 1985–86. They have been runners up in the UEFA Cup winners Cup- 1970–71 and 1982–83.
Finally, Real Madrid have won the UEFA Super Cup once which was in 2002, they have been runners up twice which was in 1998 and in 2000.

Sporting Lisbon
Many Manchester United fans would like to play Sporting Lisbon who Luis Nani and Cristiano Ronaldo used to play for. Sporting Lisbon were in Barcelona's group who they lost to 3-1 away and lost to 5-2 at home.
Sporting were UEFA Cup Winners Cup Champion's in 1964 and UEFA Cup runners up in 2005.
