Lippi On The Premier League

Marcello Lippi Manager Italy 2008/09
Italy coach Marcello Lippi has spoken about England and the Premier League's dominance and as you can probably guess, it wasn't good. Lippi says only a minority of the Premier League is made up of English players.

Lippi said: "Everyone praises English football, but the Premier League is anything but English," he said.
"The owners and the coaches are mostly foreign and the teams are also full of foreigners.
"[England coach Fabio] Capello can choose from 38 per cent of the Premier League players, while I can choose from 60 per cent of Serie A."

What are peoples problem with England and the Premier League? Ok, we have quite a few foreign players but I also believe that the clubs have quite a few English players aswell. There are two main culprits and they are Liverpool and Arsenal who don't have that many English players.

How about Inter Milan? they are far from Italian. I could be wrong but when Manchester United played Inter Milan in the Champion's League earlier on this season, during one of the legs Inter's starting line-up had no Italians in it at all.

All apart from one of England's (the national team) main squad play in the Premier League, the exception is David Beckham. We don't have an English coach, so what?

I am getting pretty sick of this, we had to step up our game in football and we did that. So what if we have foreigners in our game? We have the best league in the world and I am proud of that.
