Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has backed youngster Danny Welbeck to be chosen for Fabio Capello's World Cup squad. England haven't yet qualified for the World Cup next summer but we are in a fantastic position.

Welbeck is a Manchester lad and he did make 12 appearances for United during to 08-09 season, scoring three goals.

Internationally Welbeck made his Under-16s debut when he was 14 years old in October 2005. He progressed to England Under-17's in which he helped them to reach the 2007 UEFA Under-17 European Championship when he scored the winning goal against Serbia.
Welbeck played in the 2007 FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Korea. Welbeck scored two goals against New Zealand.
Welbeck was intended to be a squad member for England's European Under-19 Championship campaign in July 2008, but he was forced to withdraw.
He made his debut for the Under-19s on the 9th September 2008 when he played England's 2-1 win over the Netherlands.
Welbeck made his England Under-21s debut on the 10th February 2009, England lost 3-2 to Ecuador.
Recently Stuart Pearce did name him in his squad for the 2009 UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship but he has been forced to withdraw due to an injury.

“Danny’s a certainty to make it to the highest level," Ferguson told The Times."I've told Fabio Capello the boy will be in his World Cup squad next year.
"Wide left or right or through the middle, he has the intelligence, guts, athleticism, determination and talent to do the job.
“He’s going to be a big lad. His height is about 6ft 1in now but the prediction is he’ll be 6ft 3in. He’s yet to get the conformation in his thighs, so he is still gangly, but he’s brave enough to carry that. When he completes his growing, he’ll really be something."
