Man United have stayed top of the Premier League table, two points clear of Man City, after a 2-0 win over Sunderland at Old Trafford.
Manchester United got off to a brilliant start after Dimitar Berbatov put the home side 1-0 with only five minutes on the clock. After some great play between Ryan Giggs and Wayne Rooney, Berbatov finished off the move with a header past Craig Gordon.
Man United could have had three or four goals within 15 minutes. Not long after the goal Rooney tried to chip Gordon but the ball fell just wide, Berbatov smashed a shot against the the post and Anderson hit the bar.
Sunderland settled down the longer the first half went on but still didn't really threaten the Man United goal. Somehow United went into half time only 1-0 up.
The aways sides first notable attempt on goal came minutes into the second half after Asamoah Gyan's effort flew over the bar.
United's second came after a great pass from Anderson to Berbatov and his strike took a huge deflection off Anton Ferdinand and past Gordon.
With United two goals up, Sir Alex Ferguson made a double substitution with Darron Gibson and Federico Macheda coming on for Giggs and Anderson.
Berbatov could have had himself another goal after Rooney's ball in from the left fell to Gibson, his shot hit Berbatov and the Bulgarian volleyed the ball towards goal and brought an excellent save out of Gordon. There was going to be no hat-trick today after United's final substitution was Javier Hernandez on for Berbatov.
It finished 2-0, Man United are two points clear of Man City who beat Newcastle 3-1, Arsenal play Chelsea at the Emirates tomorrow.
