Mixed Injury News For Man United

Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed some mixed injury news. The bad news is that defender John O’Shea could be out for at least another two months. The good news is that Man United defenders Jonny Evans and Rio Ferdinand are nearing a return to first team football.

It was initially believed that O’Shea was suffering from a dead leg, which he picked up on International duty against France, but there is no sign of a return for the player.

Man United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said: "There is no sign at all of recovery for John”
"It is his first injury at the club and he is a big loss because he is such a versatile player.
"We just want to get him back but it could be a couple of months yet."

Sir Alex Ferguson went on to talk about Evans and Ferdinand:

“Rio Ferdinand has done well over the last few days. He is on a running programme, and Jonny Evans is also doing it with him."

“Jonny is doing a bit more, of course, because he has not been out for so long, but there’s every chance the two of them will be back soon, which is really good news.
“We will just see how they progress now. When they come through the physical side of the work, they can come on to the football side of it."

“Jonny has been involved in the football side for a few days, but Rio hasn’t yet.
“The thing is, though, that there is no recurrence of the back problem with the running that he is doing.

“That is the moment you wait for - when you come through the test of running and turning.
“He is doing his running in the gymnasium, which is good, so at the moment it is looking very healthy.

“There is no date or fixture in mind, but hopefully it isn’t too far away. The signs are looking good.”
