Manchester United have the opportunity to go top of the Premier League table tomorrow, if they beat Blackburn Rovers. Arsenal could go top of the table with a win over Aston Villa in the early kick off, but if United win, they will go top. Chelsea don’t play Newcastle until Sunday.
Man United are on a 28-match unbeaten run, Blackburn haven’t beaten United in four years and United have won 16 of out 18 League games at home, so on paper, United are rightly favourites to win.
Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic will both return after being rested for the midweek Champions League game against Rangers. Darren Fletcher, Antonio Valencia, Owen Hargreaves and Michael Owen are all out injured, whilst Paul Scholes has been rated as doubtful.
Rovers have Keith Andrews, Vince Grella, Benjani Mwaruwari, Steven Nzonzi, Martin Olsson and Brett Emerton all out injured.
Gael Givet has been ill and is doubtful, along with Morten Gamst Pedersen who is trying to recover from a hamstring problem. Mame Biram Diouf is on loan from United, so he is ineligible to play.
Lee Probert will officiate tomorrow’s game. He hasn’t refereed any games involving United so far this season but he has refereed one Blackburn game. Probert took charge of their 0-0 draw with Sunderland, in which he sent of Blackburn’s Chris Samba. So far this season he has refereed 13 games, showing 39 yellow cards and four reds.
man u victory
