After a big build up the Manchester derby was actually a rather boring affair.
Sir Alex Ferguson had indicated that he had “no idea” who he would be able to play tonight; it was surprisingly a strong side. The starting XI was- Edwin Van Der Sar, Rio Ferdinand, Patrice Evra, Rafael da Silva, Nemanja Vidic, Paul Scholes, Michael Carrick, Ji-Sung Park, Darren Fletcher, Luis Nani and Dimitar Berbatov.
Considering all the injuries and illnesses that Man United have been suffering with, it was a good performance from the team.
There wasn’t much of a difference between the two sides during the first half, it was fairly even but United dominated the second and will be disappointed that they didn’t score. There weren’t enough chances created and when they did, the finishing wasn't upto scratch.
Both Michael Carrick and Nemanja Vidic both had impressive games, Nani didn’t but he didn’t look fit. With injuries mounting up the last thing United needed were anymore, both Rafael and Evra had to be replaced. Rafael looked picked up a knock, Evra’s looked more serious.
There’s not a lot you can really say, it was just one of those games.
Both Chelsea and Arsenal won, which means that Chelsea are still top but are now four points ahead of United. Arsenal are in third, but are now only one point behind United.
