Stoke v Manchester United Review

Yesterday should have in theory been a comfortable 2 or 3 nil win for Man United but it was far from comfortable, until a Stoke sending off it looked like we weren't going to score at all.

Rio Ferdinand injured his back during the warm up which now means that he will not be fit for the match against Middlesbrough on Monday.

Stoke's best chance of the game came in the first minute of the match when he was put through on goal by a long ball which caught Evan's out but luckily for United, Fuller shot well over the bar.

That was a warning for us but straight away we almost went 1-0 up but Nemanja Vidic headed the ball wide from Giggs' cross.

I wasn't expecting a fantastic match especially during the end because of jetlag but I was expecting a win.

Rooney almost opened up the scoring but the keeper managed to make the save, most of the first half was stop start, Stoke kept on giving away freekicks which frustrated them and we weren't doing much in attacking play, which frustrated us.

Second half and you were expecting a much better Man United hopefully, Scholes' had a stunning shot at goal saved but we didn't really do much more than that until O'Shea was brought off and on came Berbatov.

70 minutes in and then came a turning point in the game when Stoke's Wilkinson was sent off for a lunge on Cristiano Ronaldo.

Not long after the sending off Neville's cross found Berbatov and what looked like a shot at goal by the Bulgarian was put into the back of the net by the Argentine Carlos Tevez.

The match finished 1-0 to United, I'm not sure if we deserved it but what was more important was the three points.

The Stoke City defence was physically superior compared to Ronaldo. Add that to an organized approach and you got yourself a frustrated Rooney and Ronaldo!

Hi Ulrik Fredrik, thanks for your comment.
Stoke's defence was fantastic during the match but if we want to be Champion's again then we will have to get over teams just wanting to defend.
