Derby 1-0 Manchester United, Carling Cup 1st Leg Review

I don't often say it but we were lucky to only loose 1-0 last night, Sir Alex quite rightly pointed out in his post match interviews that we could have easily lost 4-0 and he isn't exaggerating.
It was difficult to predict the Man United team that was going to play because there are two legs in the Carling Cup Semi's with the second match being at Old Trafford and we do have a massive match against title rivals Chelsea on Sunday.

The team that started for Man United was: Kuszczak, Rafael, Evans, Vidic, O'Shea, Nani, Anderson, Scholes, Gibson, Welbeck and Tevez.

Derby were fantastic last night, we may have been awful but credit has to go to Derby.
The goal that won the match from Commons was a stunning goal from around 25 yards out. There was nothing that Kuszczak could have done.
Derby went 1-0 up in the 30th minute so I wasn't really panicking because we had an hour to pull a goal back but that wasn't going to happen.

We went into the break only a goal down so I was hoping that Sir Alex could knock some sense into the team but they didn't look much better in the second.

The only really good chance that we had was when Tevez had been fouled just outside the box and Ronaldo's (Rooney, Ronaldo and Carrick were brought on during the second half) freekick went just wide.

I cannot name one Man United player who could say after the match that he did his best.

We are only 1-0 down and the second leg is at Old Trafford. If things are close during the second match away goals do come into it so lets hope that we put in a great performance and win comfortably like we did against Blackburn in the earlier round of the Carling Cup.

One Response so far.

I've a funny feeling Man Utd will turn this around at Old Trafford.
