Everton's past few results have been fantastic so it was always going to be a tough match, but it was alot easier than I thought it was going to be.
Fellaini and Tim Cahill were given late fitness tests, they both passed them and they both started the match.
Nemanja Vidic was a doubt for Man United after suffering a training ground injury but he was also fit to start the match.

The Manchester United players were wearing black armbands yesterday because it is the closest home match to the 51st anniversary of the Munich tragedy which will be on Friday.

United's first chance came in the fifth minute when Ji-Sung Park whipped in a cross which deceived everybody and it nearly deceived Howard, who just managed to get the ball away. If Howard hadn't touched it, the bal would probably have gone into the back of the net.


Five minutes later and United had another chance when Tevez fired the ball towards goal but former United Goalie Howard, just managed to keep the ball out with a superb save.

Throughout the first 10/15 minutes, Man United hammered Everton but were unable to get a goal but it was a good start and as long as we carried on like that, a goal was bound to come sooner or later.

Ronaldo looked better yesterday, in the first half he hit the post, he hit the ball from around 20 yards out which hit Howard's left hand post and rolled in front of goal, unfortunatly there was nobody there to knock it in.
Minutes later that was followed by another shot which looked like it could just creep under the bar but Howard knocked it over for a corner.

Just after the half hour mark, Ronaldo clipped the ball over Everton's defence to Carrick, who took it down off his chest and volleyed it towards goal. It went just wide but I think Howard would have been able to block it.

It looked like United were going to go into the break 0-0 but in the 43rd minute United were awarded a penalty. Carrick was fouled just inside the penalty area by Arteta. The Everton players weren't too happy because Carrick went down a few seconds after the foul, but to be fair on Carrick, he did try to stay up.
Ronaldo took the penalty, he stepped up, waited for Howard to dive and then knocked it past him to give United a deserved 1-0 lead.

United could have been given a second penalty when Carrick was brought down again in the penalty area, this time by Lescott. This was more of a penalty than the first one, it did look like Berbatov was blocking the referees view.

Everton did have a few shots at goal but there wasn't really anything that troubled Van Der Sar, they were either well wide or hit straight at him.

Tevez looked bright, like normal. He had another chance in the second half but just like the first, it was blasted just wide. Minutes later, Tevez had another chance, the defence backed off him which allowed Tevez to shoot but Howard went down to claim the ball.

United had a few other chances- there was a freekick outside the box, it looked like Ronaldo was going to take it but Tevez took it, it deflected off the wall, went high into the air and Howard had to knock it over the bar for a corner.

The match finished 1-0 to Manchester United which has taken us five points clear of Chelsea, who play Liverpool today at Anfield.

Van Der Sar broke another record, he broke the English League record for most minutes without conceding a goal, which was held by Reading.

We looked good today, it might have been another 1-0 win but I thought that we were going to really miss Rooney, but we haven't.
