Manchester United 1-4 Liverpool, Match Review

I have calmed down since Manchester United's 4-1 loss to the hands of Liverpool today. We were never going to win all of our matches, this loss has given Liverpool and Chelsea a little bit of hope in the title race.

Manchester United started off the brighter team, with the start we had, I definitely couldn't see us loosing but we did.
Midway into the first half, Man United went 1-0 up when we were given a penalty. Park was brought down in the penalty area by Liverpool goalie Reina and Ronaldo converted the spot kick.

United weren't ahead for that long, five minutes later Torres showed some fantastic skill and he equalised for Liverpool. Vidic let Skertal's long clearance bounce, Torres pounced and steered the ball past Van Der Sar.

44 minutes in and we had the second penalty of the match, this time it was for Liverpool (who says teams don't get penalties at Old Trafford?). Torres passed the ball to Gerrard in the area and United defender Evra brought him down, it was a penalty. Gerrard knocked the ball into the back of the net to give the scousers a 2-1 advantage.

62 minutes in Ronaldo found Rooney at the far post and Rooney's header flew across the face of goal with Tevez couldn't finish it off.

With 18 minutes left, a triple substitution was made by Fergie, he brought on Scholes, Giggs and Berbatov. Carrick, Anderson and Park were all brought off.

Not long after the changes, United were down to 10 men. Vidic was sent off for the second time against Liverpool this season when he brought Gerrard down when Gerrard was running at goal.
The third goal came from the freekick, it was a superb superb 25 yard freekick by Aurelio, game over.

After this goal Man United fans were pouring out of Old Trafford but there was still going to be another goal in the game. One of the last moments of the game was a Dossena goal which made it 4-1 to Liverpool who are now four points behind us and we still have a game in hand.

I am gutted about the result but we have to pick ourselves up, we don't play until next Saturday so the players can get a rest. We were outclassed today and we have to make sure that we get a positive result against Fulham.

One Response so far.
