United Going To Wembley, After Thrashing Fulham

Manchester United were winning the Carling Cup last Sunday at Wembley and we will be back there next month after beating Fulham 4-0 yesterday.
The main surprise for me in Man United's starting 11 was that Van Der Sar started in goal. We may have an extremely important match against Inter Milan on Wednesday but Fergie did field a strong team.

Ronaldo and Berbatov were both rested, Berbatov was an unused sub and Ronaldo was left behind in Manchester.
Two minutes in and Tevez was already causing trouble but Schwarzer went down to his right to make a superb save.
Not long after that and Fulham nearly went ahead, Van Der Sar had come out of his goal, Johnson just managed to get his toe to the ball, the ball was rolling towards the goal with no goalie but Vidic managed to just get back to knock it away for a throw-in for Fulham.

This seemed to give Fulham some confidence, Dempsey brought a great save out of Van Der Sar.
20 minutes in and it was looking like Fulham was the more likely team to score, until, Anderson's corner flicked off Rooney's head towards the goal. Tevez was at the post to head the ball into the back of the net and give United a lead.

Rooney was so close to getting a goal when Park slid a cross in and Rooney's shot hit the post.
15 minutes after he scored the opening goal, Tevez had his second. Tevez had the ball, just inside Fulham's half, he ran towards the goal and unleashed a fantastic 25 yard shot which hit the back of the net and gave United a 2-0 lead.

Just before half time, Ferdinand picked up and knock and he was replaced by Evans' for the second half. It is thought that he was taken off for a precaution.

Second half and we didn't have to wait long for Man United's third goal. Fulham didn't have the confidence they did in the first 20 minutes that showed in the third goal. Rooney picked up the ball after it was given away by a Fulham defender and he curled the ball past Schwarzer.

There was a bit of a moment between Rooney and Dempsey before the hour mark which left both players on the floor, minutes later Rooney was taken off, just to protect him for Wednesday's game.

The last half hour wasn't the best, after Rooney was taken off, United lost a spark and it was a bit of a stroll. United didn't press ahead for another goal, I think that was probably because they were trying to save some energy for Inter Milan.

There was one more goal, nine minutes from full time and Park's low shot was unstoppable and gave United a comfortable 4-0 win.
