After receiving two yellow cards, Wayne Rooney was shown a red against United's 2-0 loss to Fulham on Saturday, the good news is that he will only be missing for one match. The game he will miss is United's Premier League match against Aston Villa at Old Trafford a week on Sunday.
Referee Phil Dowd did confirm that Wayne Rooney did not swear at him after his second booking.
An FA spokesman said: “We clarified with Phil Dowd that there was no abuse from the player after he was dismissed. In relation to the incident when he punched the corner flag, we have written to Wayne reminding him of his responsibilities.”
It could have been a lot worse, he shouldn't have lost his temper because we were going to loose whatever happened but I am glad that it is only a one match ban.
