Manchester United 0-0 Everton, FA Cup Review

Yesterday afternoon Manchester United were knocked out by Everton on penalties, it is still a little bit raw in the minds of Man United supporters especially considering it was Man United who should have really gone through but Everton got the luck and sometimes that is what you need.

I am going to start off by saying that out of all the quarter finalists (Everton, Chelsea and Arsenal) if we were going to be knocked out by a team, my preferance was Everton. They are a really good team and I think they deserve it and deserve more respect (are you listening Mr Benitez).

Man United put a very young team out which was the average age of 22 and a half. Foster started in goal, Van Der Sar wasn't in the team. Rafael, Vidic, Ferdinand and Fabio all started in defence. This was the first time that I had seen the Da Silva brothers play in the same match together. Park, Anderson, Gibson and Welbeck all played in midfield with Tevez and Macheda starting up front.
Many people may say this morning that Fergie's gamble to play the youngsters didn't work but I think it did. The game finished 0-0, we should have won it but we went into extra time and that also finished 0-0 with both sides having a few chances. Once it gets to penalties then it is just luck. The only penalty that disappointed me was Berbatov's, that had to be one of the worst penalties I have ever seen but you can't blame him for the loss. You can't blame Ferdinand either because his was also saved.

The main talking point after was that penalty decision which the referee failed to give. Personally I think it was a penalty, why else would Welbeck have gone down? He could have easily taken the ball past the Jagielka and Howard and slotted the ball into the back of the net. Even Everton manager Moyes and Jagielka thought that it was a penalty but a game shouldn't and doesn't fall to one point. There is a whole 90 minutes to score and we should have really got a few more chances on target.

Congratulations to Everton and I hope they go on and win it, they will face a stronger Chelsea team but they can do it and I hope they do.
