Yesterday Man United were handed the early kick off against Middlesbrough after a midweek 1-0 win over Arsenal, we had the chance to go six points clear of Liverpool in the Premier League. Liverpool play Newcastle United today.

There were seven changes in the team who started against Arsenal on Wednesday- Foster, Evans, Park, Scholes, Giggs, Macheda and Berbatov all started. Evra, Vidic and O'Shea kept their places. Macheda was making his first Premier League start.

Middlesbrough started off at a great pace but it was Rooney wh0 had the first shot, which went high and wide. Boro had a chance not long after but goalie Foster saved Aliadiere's shot with his leg.
Rooney was Man

Giggs fired Manchester United in front after Rooney got the ball to Vidic, and Vidic laid the ball of to Giggs and Giggs slotted the ball into the back of the net to give United an important lead.

Boro did appeal for a penalty after the ball was hit the arm of Vidic and Berbatov but there was nothing that either of them could have done so no penalty.

Second half and there was only ever going to be one team who was going to score and that was Man United. After the first goal Boro looked deflated and never really threatened.

Scholes had a good chance to put United 2-0 up when he was teed up to shoot but uncharacteristically, he shot wide.
Man United's second goal came after Giggs and Macheda played a one-two and they got the ball to Rooney. Rooney put Park in on goal and Park put the ball into the back of the net.

We only have four games left, we are six points clear of Liverpool and both teams have exactly the same goal difference. Yesterday's game was a walk in the park. Next up is the second leg against Arsenal in the Champion's League.
