Manchester United have many big name players such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Carlos Tevez, Dimitar Berbatov and Wayne Rooney but there are other players who don't get the credit that they deserve. Michael Carrick is one of them but today Barcelona midfielder Xavi has singled Carrick out and praised him.

Carrick has been fantastic for United this season, especially in the Champion's League. Some of the passes that Carrick has picked out this season and some of the defensive work he is done has been brilliant.

Xavi told reporters: "Carrick gives United balance and can play defensively too.
"He passes well, has a good shot and is a complete player. United have a very good midfield at a high level and they're strong physically and technically.
"But we can't use any excuses at this stage and we'll play as we normally do.
"We won't change our philosophy."
