The Mirror have revealed today that Newcastle United are still paying Manchester United striker Michael Owen. Owen joined Man United on a free transfer but for the next month Newcastle will still be paying his wages, alongside Man United.

Owen took a basic wage cut from £105,000 a week (his pay at Newcastle) to £50,000 (his Man United wage) and under Premier League rules he is entitled to have the shortfall between the £105,000 wage and the £50,000 wage made up for a whole month. Does that make sense?

So for the next month, Michael Owen will be paid by both Man United and Newcastle.
Things keep on getting worse and worse for Newcastle.
