Wigan Athletic vs Manchester United Preview

ASTON VILLA V WIGAN ATHLETIC
Tomorrow Man United play their second away match of the season, the last one at Turf Moor didn’t go too well. Hopefully tomorrow’s game against Wigan at the DW stadium will be better. Just in case you had forgotten (which I had) the JJB Stadium was renamed and it is now called the DW stadium after their owner Dave Whelan.

Man United (as you know) lost to Burnley 1-0 midweek, Wigan also lost 1-0 but they lost to (also newly promoted) Wolverhampton Wanderers.

There has been mixed team news for Man United before the match. The bad news is that Rio Ferdinand is out for a month, which will mean he will miss important matches against Arsenal, Manchester City and a group stage Champion’s League match.

Former Wigan winger Antonio Valencia is expected to start tomorrow. He came on as a second half substitute against Burnley on Wednesday and he immediately gave United width which we needed.

Wigan are without long term injured Olivier Kapo and Charles N'Zogbia's fitness is rated at 50/50. Manchester United have a 100% record against Wigan after winning all previous eight-league games between the clubs.

Tomorrow will be a tough match but Man United have to recover from Wednesday’s loss. For me, loosing tomorrow is unthinkable. I know that we are only a few games into the season and I have said many times before that you can’t win the title in August, but you can loose it.

My prediction: A 2-0 win for Man United
