We all know that keeper Ben Foster hasn’t had the best of times in the Man United goal whilst replacing injured Edwin Van Der Sar.
The United fans are in mixed opinion about him. Some believe that he isn’t good enough to wear the Man United shirt. Others say that he is only young and he needs to be given a chance.
I was only thinking the other day, how long it would be until we hear about some kind of falling out or argument between Sir Alex Ferguson and Foster. Today The Daily Star (and apparently The Guardian but I haven’t read that) are reporting that after United’s 2-2 draw with Sunderland there was a bust-up between Sir Alex and Foster.
Foster made another mistake, which cost us a goal during the Sunderland game, and apparently Fergie blamed Foster. Since then Foster was left out of the England squad due to a ‘chest injury’ which wasn’t mentioned after the game or posted on ManUtd.com.
Last night, Edwin Van Der Sar played a whole 90 minutes of reserve team action and he came out of that unscathed. That probably means that once the International games are over, Van Der Sar will be back in goal to play Bolton.
I feel sorry for Foster, he is a brilliant keeper but over recent games, he has made so many mistakes that have cost us. The problem with keepers is unlike strikers, midfielders and defenders- when they make mistakes; it usually ends up as a goal.
Right now, Foster has no confidence and that needs to be built back up. Sir Alex will have to decide whether or not to drop him or not.
