Ferdinand And Rooney Fit For Tuesday

Football - Manchester United v Hull City Barclays Premier League
Man United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand will be available for Tuesday’s Champions League match against Bayern Munich.

Both players weren’t named in the team to face Bolton today, when the team news was first heard earlier on today many believed that would mean both players would be doubtful for the Champions League game. That is not the case.

"They were just a bit tender [Wayne and Rio’s injuries]," Sir Alex Ferguson told MUTV.

"Wayne’s got a bruise on his foot. If he’d played and got a whack on it, then he would have been doubtful for Tuesday.

"We’ve got a big week. We have to use our squad in situations like this. I’ve no qualms about that at all. They’ve all done their job well, and I’ll have Rooney and Ferdinand available for Tuesday."

That may be some good injury news for United but news out of Germany is that Bayern Munich are waiting to see if Arjen Robben has suffered from a calf injury.

"Maybe it will turn out not to be that bad but it looks difficult for the United match," said Bayern coach Louis Van Gaal.
