Man United Wait on Wayne Rooney Injury- UPDATED

Football - Bayern Munich v Manchester United UEFA Champions League Quarter Final First Leg
When Wayne Rooney had to be helped away from Man United’s 2-1 loss to Bayern Munich, not only were Man United fans worrying, so were England fans. This was the sight that none of us wanted to see.

Rooney left the Allianz Arena wearing a protective boot, and using crutches. Now United and England face an anxious wait to see how serious the injury is. Rooney is now a major doubt for this Saturday’s vital clash against Chelsea and the return leg against Bayern next Wednesday.

The in-form striker will now face an anxious wait and will have further tests tomorrow.

Sir Alex Ferguson said: "He's obviously hurt his ankle, we'll know better tomorrow. It's too early to say. I don't think it's terribly serious, but we'll wait and see."

When asked if he could play against Chelsea on Saturday Sir Alex said: "I can't answer that, we need to wait until tomorrow."

All we can do now is speculate, I have heard a wide range of theories from a bruised ankle to metatarsal injury to a broken foot. We just don’t know, all we can do is hope that it isn’t serious.

*UPDATE*
Sky Sports News is saying that their sources believe that Wayne Rooney has suffered an ankle sprain. This injury will keep him out for 2-4 weeks, and he will have a scan later today. Nothing is official and has not been confirmed.
