United Set To Sign 21-Year Old Striker

Manchester United has revealed that they have agreed a deal with Mexican club Chivas de Guadalajara for 21-year old Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez for an undisclosed fee. The talented young striker will join United on the 1st July 2010, subject to a work permit.

Personal terms have been agreed with the player and he has passed a medical, so if he does get the work permit then he will become a Manchester United player.

For his club Chicharito has made 68 appearances, scoring 28 goals. Hernandez has played four times for his country Mexico, scoring four goals.

United has also confirmed that they will be playing a friendly match at Chivas new 45,000 stadium as part of the deal.

Sir Alex Ferguson said: "I am delighted to reach agreement with Chivas to bring such an exciting young striker, who has been in such prolific form for both his club and his country. He will be a great addition to our squad and we look forward to welcoming our first Mexican player in the summer.

“We are equally excited to play our first game in Mexico, opening the magnificent new Chivas Stadium in July."

This isn’t a done deal, United were unable to get a work permit for Adem Ljajic so the deal was abandoned.
