Sunderland V Manchester United Preview

Premier League: United Turn The Screw
This weekend is the penultimate weekend of this seasons Premier League, which will probably decide which team will be lifting the trophy next weekend.

Chelsea play Liverpool at Anfield before United kick off, if they win then in all likeliness the trophy will be heading down to Stamford Bridge. If Chelsea lose or draw at Anfield then the title race swings in United’s favour, if we beat Sunderland later on in the day.

Former Man United player and current Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has said warned United not to expect any favours from him. Sunderland haven’t lost at the Stadium of Light since December, beating sides such as Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Liverpool, they won’t roll over for us.

Only two teams have won at the Stadium Of Light in the Premier League this season- Chelsea and Aston Villa. That shows the hard task we have on our hands tomorrow.

The Black Cats will be without Alan Hutton who is serving a suspension. Lee Cattermole and John Mensah are both doubtful but the home side will definitely be without Andy Reid and George McCartney.

The Man United team news ahead of the game is that Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand have recovered from groin strains and may be able to start. Gary Neville signed a new one-year contract during the week but he is doubtful with a calf injury. Both Anderson and Michael Owen are out injured.

The referee who has been appointed is ‘card happy’ Steven Bennett. You never really know what to expect when Bennett is involved, he is one of those referees who like to be the centre of attention. He has shown 113 yellow cards and six red cards in 31 matches this season.

It’s not going to be easy tomorrow, anything less than a win will not be good enough. Whatever happens I believe this will be the weekend, which decides whether or not Man United will be lifting the trophy at Old Trafford next weekend.
