Manchester United v Arsenal Review

Before the match today i was nervous, last season Arsenal did the double over us and earlier on in the season we should have won the match at the Emirates but with an extremly late goal we drew 2-2 with Arsenal. We really had to win today, Chelsea are now only three points behind us and they are playing Wigan tomorrow at the Bridge, we also have to visit the Bridge with Chelsea not loosing there for four years.

When i saw the team news there were a few surprises, i wasnt expecting Park to start for United and i also wasnt expecting Lehmann to play (Almunia is injured) especially after his comments during the week, Arsenal also had Song playing which was a surprise to me.

In the first half of the match Arsenal were the better team, Rooney had a few chances but he was isolated which ment that he was getting frustrated and Ronaldo was extremly quiet.
Arsenal had a few chances but to be totally honest the first half was forgetable, both teams could have scored which ment that i was looking forward to the second half (aslong as there were more goals for United than Arsenal)
Arsenal came out of the blocks in the second half and in the first few minutes they took the lead which a goal that after a few looks on replay showed it shouldnt have stood, i didnt spot it first time but Adebayor put the ball into the net with his arm. The referee and linesman didnt see it but nor did I.
Minutes later we had a penalty, Carrick's cross into the penalty area was cleared by his arm, correct decision by the ref.
Ronaldo took the penalty and scored but it had to be taken again because players were in the box when he took it. At that point i was thinking he is going to miss or it is going to be saved, but it was Ronaldo so ofcourse he scored, i shouldnt of doubted him.
In the second half Anderson and Tevez were brought on just after Arsenal goal and from then on we looked alot more comfortable and threatening.
72 minutes in were given a freekick which looked like Ronaldo was going to take it, but he didnt, Hargreaves took it and it was a fantastic freekick that ended up in the back of the net.
The last 10 minutes were extremly nervous and i was starting to bite my nails, Arsenal were coming at us over and over again, Van Der Sar made some world class saves and we finished the match 2-1, 6 points ahead of Chelsea (who have a game in hand) and 9 points ahead of Arsenal with 4 games to go.

Overall i dont think we did enough to win the match but we did and that is what Champions do.
Did you watch or listen to the match? What did you think of it?
