There weren't too many Manchester United players in the Euro 2008 tournament especially compared to Chelsea, so how did they get on?

Van Der Sar
United's Goalie Van Der Sar had a great tournament, he made some fantastic saves especially against Italy and France. Unfortuntly Holland were knocked out in the quarter finals by Russia after a 3-1 defeat in extra time.
For me, and I am trying not to be biased, I think that Van Der Sar was the best goalie in Euro 2008.

Evra
Evra didn't start every match for France but when he did play, he played well. I don't think Evra got the chance to show what he can really do but that is probably because France didn't progress past the group stages, they finished at the bottom of the group with only 1 point.

Nani
Nani did come on as a substitute in some games but the problem with Nani was that he was far too selfish and took shots which had no chance of going in. He did have a few good moments and showed what he could become but if he cuts out the selfish part of his game, just like Ronaldo did then he could become a star.

Ronaldo
There was much speculation about Ronaldo before and during Euro 2008, he was either going to shine as a big player or he was going to flop, Ronaldo flopped.
There could be many reasons why he didn't perform. There has been speculation over his Manchester United future or may'be he was just too tired after a hard season with United.
When your team need lifting, you look to the important players like Ronaldo to lift the team like he has done with Manchester United but he could'nt do it for Portugal.
Overall Ronaldo had a disappointing tournament, scoring only one goal.

Kuszczak
Kuszczak was in the Poland squad but before Euro 2008 even started he withdrew due to injury.

One Response so far.
