It has been confimed today that Manchester United stiker Wayne Rooney will miss the start of the season due to a virus he picked up on United's pre-season tour of Nigeria.
Now, I can't help but think that this is a massive blow for United, no Ronaldo and no Rooney.
Last season Rooney was looking sharp in pre-season until he was injured in the first Premier League match against Reading.
Rooney will miss the start of the season and I think it might just affect his goal scoring a bit, only to start with but we need all the fire power we can get what with Ronaldo being injured and Saha may'be leaving us, but he is always injured anyway.
"You worry about having a team for the start of the season," Sir Alex said at a press conference to mark the U15 Manchester United Premier Cup tournament at Carrington.
"Nani is suspended, Anderson's at the Olympics and I doubt if we'll get Wayne fit for the start of the season.
"It's a virus that we believe he picked up in Nigeria. It's not a nice one,"
"Carrick also had it, but he came in today (Tuesday) and hopefully he'll play some part against Portsmouth on Sunday."
"We have a laboratory here so we have all the facilities to do these things now," added the boss, before adding: "The players all had malaria tablets before they went to Africa so it's nothing to do with that."
