Manchester United v Zenit St Petersburg : UEFA Supa Cup

Tomorrow evening the winners of the Champion's League (Manchester United) will take on the winners of the UEFA Cup (Zenit St Petersburg) in Stade Louis II, Monaco.

Owen Hargreaves is set to make his first Manchester United appearance this season after recovering from a tendinitis problem.
Gary Neville is also set for an appearance which would be his first competitive appearance for United for over a year.
Ryan Giggs has recovered from his hamstring injury and Nani is available after serving a three match ban, even though it wouldn't have counted with this match anyway, the ban only applied for the Premier League but we will have him back now.

Zenit St Petersburg might be without their star man- Andrei Arshavin after the boss said that:
"His head is occupied with other thoughts" which is just like the Berbatov saga but the difference is that Zenit haven't been complained about Tottenham, which is a shame because Tottenham have double standards when it comes to these things.

Russian striker Pavel Pogrebnyak is fit for the match tomorrow, I haven't really seen him play because he was injured before Euro 2008 with a knee injury.

This will be Manchester United's fourth time competing for the UEFA Super Cup, with Fergie winning two but loosing one.
Ferguson first lifter the trophy in 1991 when we beat FK Crvena Zvezda - Red Star Belgrade, 1-0.
When United won the Champion's League in 1999 (the treble season) United lost to Lazio in Monaco, 1-0.

Here is what Sir Alex thinks:
"I remember the last time we went there I only played half a team," said Ferguson, whose side won the Champions League by defeating Chelsea 6-5 on penalties.
"When I saw Lazio celebrating at the end, it was like they had won the World Cup.
"I was not too pleased. I thought, 'That will not happen again'.
"We'll view the Super Cup as a one-off and we want to win it but we are expecting a very tough game."

Here is what the manager of Zenit, Dick Advocaat thinks:
"United are a very famous and a very strong opponent, who we will treat with a lot of respect," said Advocaat.
"This is like an exam which will show what our team is capable of."

Surely this is a pointless match. The winners of a superior competition taking on the winners of a lesser competition.....

Why no play a game between the winners of the Premier League and the winners of the Conference League :(

You also said that the Community match was pointless, I personally don't see why it's pointless and I am sure that if your team was playing, you wouldnt be saying it.

A match between the Premier League winners and winners of the conference league would definetly be more pointless than this at lease there is a chance of Zenit beating United.

You have to remember that AC Milan are in this years UEFA Cup so if they win it, there will be a match between AC Milan and a top European club which won't be pointless at all.
You are just saying that Zenit are a rubbish team, I watched them last season in the UEFA Cup and they knocked out Bayern Munich, they are not lesser opponants.
