Since Manchester City has been taken over by an incredibly rich business man there has been a massive uproar of fans saying that the Premier League is being ruined by money, do they have a case?
As far as I am concerned the Premier League is the best football league in the world, it has now become a world brand. Now it is a world brand, rich business men are wanting to buy into it, most of the problems that the Premier League have grown due to foreign investors.
Roman Abramovich bought Chelsea in 2003 and he started a worrying trend of over paying for players (Chelsea paid over £100 million on players in one summer) , raising the salary and now we have a team that can now compete with Abramovich- Manchester City.
This was shown on the 1st September, after weeks of speculation many people expected Robinho to leave Real Madrid for Chelsea but Chelsea were out bid by Manchester City, which saw Robinho moving to Manchester.
Now I might be wrong but I can't remember Chelsea being out bid by anyone since 2003?!
Sulaiman al-Fahim, who is the public face of the Abu Dhabi United Group for Development and Investment which has taken over City has said that he wants to make City the biggest team in the world and the only way I can see that happening is if he throws loads of money around and buys the biggest players in the world, they have even said that they will bid £135 million for Cristiano Ronaldo. That for me is worrying.
Many Premier League clubs are now under foreign investment and many people are calling the Premier League the billionaires playground.
The clubs currently under foreign investment are Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Fulham, Aston Villa, West Ham and Portsmouth.
You would have thought that with millions of pounds, life at a football club would be fantastic, but your wrong.
Some Manchester United fans felt so strongly against the Glazers that they formed a new club called FC United Of Manchester.
Last season Gillett and Hicks have (Liverpool's owners) fell out and that caused a massive problem with Liverpool which got so bad that it looked like one of them had to go but neither would sell to the other.
Many fans are happy with the amount of money now in Premier League football but with supposed bids such as £135 million for one player, who my be the best player in the world, he is one of my favourite but I can honestly say as a Manchester United fan that he isn't worth that amount of money, is it going to spiral out of control?
Another problem is that the foreign owners who come in want instant success and it doesnt work like that, Citys former owner Shinawatra sacked coach Sven Goran Eriksson because he thought that City didnt have a good enough season but in many peoples eyes they had a fantastic season.
English/British managers aren't being given a chance at the top jobs. Manchester City now have Mark Hughes, who is an English manager and Manchester United have a Scottish manager but that is it in the top jobs.
So, my question is: Is Money Ruining The Premier League?
