Manchester United v Villarreal Match Review

There was great news for Manchester United at the beginning of the match, one of United’s star players- Cristiano Ronaldo was back and sitting on the bench.

The match, in my opinion was very one sided, apart from one moment.
Manchester United had most of the possession but the only thing lacking last night was a goal and some quality in the last third of the pitch.

Over the last few matches I have been extremely disappointed with Nani but he started off well yesterday with a few bright moments in the beginning and some of his play was much better quality.

In the first half United should really have been 1 or two up, Ferdinand missed an open goal but to be fair on him he wasn’t really expecting the ball to come to him, Nani whipped in a fantastic shot but they goal managed to save it, just.
Park also had a great chance to score but his shot was deflected, Tevez fiercely struck a shot but the goalie managed to parry it behind the post for a corner.
38 minutes in and Manchester United should have been handed a penalty when Park was brought down in the penalty area, nothing was given.

At the end of the of the first half, I was pretty happy with what United were doing, it looked like we were going to get a goal sooner or later.
The only thing I was disappointed in was that the deliveries for the corners and freekicks weren’t great.

Second half started like the first ended, Manchester United had all of the possession but the game was lacking some pace.
61 minutes in and the moment that all United fans have been waiting for, for months happened, Cristiano Ronaldo stepped onto the pitch with a Manchester United shirt on.
Anderson also came on at this point and straight away United looked more confident and the pace of the match picked up.
During the match Ronaldo had a few chances to score for United and it looked like the script had been written for him to score the winning goal, but that wasn’t going to happen.
Evans also had a chance to win the match but his header from Ronaldo’s ball in hit the post.
There was one fantastic chance for Villarreal to score and that was when a shot hit the inside of the post and I thought Lopez had scored.

Overall I think we should have won it, easily but if Villarreal play like this on their homeground then I think we will win, it was one of those frustrating nights last night.

It is an extremely important week for United, with three matches.
We lost to Liverpool, we have draw against Villarreal, does that mean we will win against Chelsea? Personally I don’t think so, but we could finish the week with a loss, a draw and a win.
