Player Of The Week: Wes Brown

This weeks Player Of The Week is Wes Brown, Brown has been at Manchester United since 1992, after Gary Neville's injury he has forced himself into the first team squad and recently signed a new contract.

Brown began his serious football career at Burnage High School and Fletcher Moss Rangers.
Wes spent time with Manchester United's football academy and joined United at the age of 12.
Wes Brown signed a professional contract at United at the age of 17 on the 4th November 1996.
He went through the reserve and youth teams winning the FA Youth Cup and a Lancashire Division One medal with the reserves. He also added a Denzil Haroun Young Player of the Year award to his collection.

4th May 1998 and Wes Brown made his debut for the Manchester United first team in the Premiership, he came off the bench to play Leeds United.
Brown broke into the first team a year later (1998-1999) when he made a few first team appearances, this was also the year that United won the treble.

2000 would be a bad year for Brown, he suffered a string of injuries whilst training and he didnt play a single competitive game all year. Brown did return and he returned with a bang, he had a fantastic 2000-2001 campaign which was folled by a successful 2001-2002 campaign.
Wes Brown's reputation grew and in the 2002-2003 season he suffered another set back when he tore a knee ligament on the final day of the season.
Brown returned from this injury midway through the 2003-2004 season.

Brown hadn't scored a goal for three years until a goal against one of United's bitter rivals Liverpool on the 23rd March 2008 in the 3-0 win. Brown signed a new five year contract with United after months of speculation. He has now forced his way into the England squad and recently scored his forth goal for Manchester United in a 2-0 win at Blackburn.
