There was a moment during yesterdays match when Wayne Rooney went down in the penalty area with hardly any contact but he has done the right thing and said that he dived and apologised.

Rooney shouldn't have dived but sometimes you do things through instinct e.g the stupid handball by Scholes during the UEFA Super Cup against Zenit St Petersburg this season.

Here is what Fergie and Rooney have had to say:
Sir Alex: “It is uncharacteristic of Wayne.

“He thought he was going to be tackled and made the most of thought he was going to be tackled and made the most of it. But he has seen it again and apologised to me.

“You don’t usually see it from him. Maybe he had been watching Robert Pires too much.

“At least he said sorry. You would not hear Pires saying that, bloody hell!”

Rooney: “I thought I was going to get kicked and tried to ride the challenge.”

Rooney also apologised to Gonzalo Rodriguez for diving in a bid to win a free-kick on the edge of the area in the first half.

I know that it is wrong but atleast he has apologised, I bet some other footballers haven't but Im not going to name names- Ronaldo.
