Carling Cup Final Preview

It is the day of the Carling Cup final and I am officially excited. Ok, so it is only the League Cup, but we won it in 2006 and that kicked us into our winning ways, hopefully if we can win it tomorrow then it can give the youngsters even more hunger to win trophies.

Manchester United have arrived in London by train and they will be ready to take on the current holders Tottenham Hotspur at 15:00 GMT tomorrow afternoon.

United are the red hot favourites to lift the Cup but it won't be as easy as many think it will be.

Man United team news:

Van Der Sar is not expected to start because he hasn't in the other Carling Cup matches so Sir Alex will have to decide between Foster and Kuszczak.

United are without defenders Rafael da Silva and Brown who are both still recovering with injuries. Neville is in the squad and may play a part. Jonny Evans has been rated 50/50 for this match, if he does play, it is likely that he is playing with pain killing injections. It has been hinted that Fabio will be handed a start.

In the midfield Fergie has said that Gibson and Welbeck will start, Welbeck is a striker but he has played as a winger Fergie could possibly put Welbeck out on the wing and Rooney and Tevez upfront.

Anderson played for Man United's reserves on Thursday evening and is in contention for this match.

Upfront and Sir Alex is expected to play Welbeck with either Rooney or Tevez. Berbatov is not in the squad which means that he will not face his former club.

Tottenham team news:

Huerelho Gomes will start in goal because Carlo Cudicini ineligible.

During midweek, Redknapp rester Woodgate, King, Assou-Ekotto, Corlucka, Modric, Bent, Lennon, Jenas and Pavlyucenko, he is expected to recall them all.
Redknapp will probably play with five midfielders which will leave on lone striker which will either be Pavlyucenko or Bent, my money would be on Pavlyucenko because he has scored in every round of the Carling Cup.

Redknapp will also wait to assess midfielder Jamie O'Hara's hip injury before deciding on his final team to play United
Strikers Robbie Keane (ineligible) and Jermaine Defoe (foot) are out as are Pascal Chimbonda and Wilson Palacios who are both ineligible.

United loanee Frazier Campbell is also ineligible to play.

Squads:

Tottenham: Gomes, Alnwick, Corluka, Assou-Ekotto, Woodgate, King, Bentley, Jenas, Modric, Zokora, Lennon, Pavyluchenko, Bent, O'Hara, Huddlestone, Bale, Dawson, Gunter, Giovani, Taarabt.
Man United: Foster, Kuszczak, Neville, Fabio, Gibson, Evans, Vidic, Ferdinand, O'Shea, Evra, Welbeck, Anderson, Carrick, Fletcher, Park, Scholes, Nani, Ronaldo, Giggs, Tevez, Rooney.

My Prediction:

I don't think the game will go into extra time, it will be a tight match but I am predicting a 2-1 win for United with goals from Tevez and Welbeck, I think Pavyluchenko will score for Spurs.

At time of writing, it has gone to extra time at 0-0, come on Spurs.....

Lets end the quadruple before it starts!

At the time of writing, a few hours ago, Manchester United won on penalties.

I think overall we did deserve it more than Spurs.
