Reports are saying that Manchester United have joined the race along with Real Madrid to sign 20 year old Belgian star Axel Witsel. United and Real are set to fight it out again but this time it isn't over Ronaldo, it will be over Witsel.
It is claimed that United will offer Standard Liege €8.8 million (£8m), is this just more rumours? I don't know but here are some facts about him.
- Witsel was born on the 12th January 1989 in Liege (Belgium). (thanks to Stretford-end.com for pointing out that he wasn't born in 1889)
- His natural position is defensive midfielder but can play on the wings.
- Witsel made his debut in a competitive game against FC Brussels when he replaced Steven Defour in the 89th minute.
- He was a key member in the team that won the Belgian League title.
- He was voted Belgian Young Footballer Of The Year in the 2007-08 season.
- Witsel has made a total of 78 appearances for Liege, scoring 16 goals

Christ - he is doing well for 120 years old. ;-)
lol, thanks for that.
I hadn't even noticed and I did look over it twice.
