Benitez Taunts United

After Liverpool's emphatic win over Manchester United on Saturday there was bound to be some comments from Rafa Benitez. I had said it many times since Saturday, Man United were tired and we need a break. Liverpool weren't playing in the FA Cup so they got a weekend off and they played in the Champion's League a day earlier than us. I no it shouldn't be an excuse but I believe that if we had the same break as Liverpool, we would have beaten them.

Back to Benitez. He has said that Liverpool are the best team in Europe and have been for the past five years, I have gone through this before (here) so I won't go over it again.

Like I said, this was bound to happen and it probably will rumble on until Saturday when we hopefully will beat Fulham.

Benitez apparently told Sir Alex: “Now we’re the best in Europe!”. So they beat the World Champion's, European Champion's and English Champion's and that makes them the best team in Europe, is that what he means? If that is the case, that would mean that Derby were the best team in Europe when they beat United at Pride Park.

I would have thought that that was a pretty stupid thing to say to Fergie, all that is going to do is spur him on and make him more determined to win the Champion's League.

He added: “Liverpool has been the best team in Europe over the past five years. It is a fact.
“And now we have more belief and more confidence. We have to win every game from now on and see what happens with them.”

I will tell you exactly what will happen to us, this defeat hurt us and it could be a blessing in disguise, this could sort out the complacency that had creeped into the United game over the past few weeks.

He does respect Fergie though (and anyone who loves the game of football should respect him for what he has done) but he doesn't always understand him.

“I respect Alex Ferguson. He is a great manager. But I have to defend my club.
"Sometimes my English is not good enough but I do not understand the Scottish accent.”

I personally never have any problems understanding Fergie, but Fergie can get his point across without talking, you only have to look at him and you know what he is thinking.

It is alright to be cocky now, but wait until the end of the season and we will see who has won what.
