Yesterday Manchester United won the Carling Cup after a penalty shootout, it has been revealed that before the shootout, Foster watched Spurs players take penalties on his ipod.
Manchester United started with Foster in goal, Evra, Ferdinand, Evans and O'Shea as the back four, Nani, Scholes, Gibson and Ronaldo were in the midfield, Tevez and Welbeck started upfront.
Gibson started off well with a 25 yard shot at goal which went just over Gomes' goal. 15 minutes in and Gomes had to make a save from Nani's.
The only Spurs player who really troubled United throughout the whole match was Lennon, he had the better of Evra quite a few times.
It was Ferdinand who had one of the best chances of the first match, his dipping volley would have been in if it was inches lower. Man United were very much the better team in the first 25 minutes but Tottenham slowly got themselves back into the match.
Only 10 minutes into the second half, Welbeck was brought off and Anderson was brought on. Welbeck hadn't really done much but this change brought Man United back to life.
United should really have been ahead around 60 minutes in when Evans shot which looked like it was well off target went through a crowd of players and Tevez was unable to knock it towards goal.
66 minutes in and there was a controversial moment, Ronaldo went down in the penalty area and he was booked for diving. This occasion, Ronaldo's reputation went before him, replays showed that King had his foot on top of Ronaldo's, it should have been a penalty. Unfortunately for United, the referee can't see replays.
Foster made a fantastic save from Lennon in the 70th minute, Assou-Ekotto's cross found him in space 12 yards out, no defenders were anywhere near Lennon.
Another part of the match was controversial, O'Shea was on a yellow card and could have easily been shown another yellow but the ref decided not too. I think that this was the right decision, and I would have said that if it was a Spurs player. There was no nastiness in the match at all and I don't think that either team deserved to be down to 10 men unless there was a horrific challenge.
With around 30 seconds of the three minutes of stoppage time, I and many others thought that Ronaldo had won the match when his shot hit the bar and rebounded to Nani who could only hit it out for a goalkick. That meant only one thing- extra time.
Neither team really wanted to play extra time especially with important Premier League matches midweek.
There wasn't really much to talk about throughout the whole of the extra time, most of the time the game was at walking pace, both teams were knackered.
The best chance for either team to win it fell to Evra, his shot from the left side went just over Gomes' bar. The game went to penalties.
It has been revealed that Ben Foster was shown footage of Spurs players taking penalties just before the shootout.
United went first with Ryan Giggs, the shot hit the post and went it. The first Spurs player was O'Hara his penalty was saved by Foster. United's second penalty taker was Tevez, his hit the back of the net. Spurs' second was Corluka and he was the only Tottenham player to score.
Ronaldo was the third Man United player, after the penalty miss at Barcelona and in the Champion's League final in last seasons Champion's League I thought he could possibly miss it, no problems though, he scored.
Tottenham's next penalty taker was Bentley, his penalty was awful, he skewed it wide. That meant, if Anderson could score is penalty then United have won- Anderson stepped up, he looked calm and he scored.
Manchester United won the Carling Cup on penalties, it was harsh for Spurs, any team who looses on penalties are unlucky. Overall I think we deserved it and now we have got the Community Shield (if that really counts), World Club Championship and the Carling Cup.
