Harry Redknapp
"I thought we were terrific. It was a great performance. It comes down to a lottery in the end with penalties," he told Sky Sports.
"I've got to be honest, we weren't that confident with our penalty takers.
"You looked at United and they looked like they had some great, confident penalty takers. That's how it goes.
"But overall they couldn't beat us in 90 minutes plus extra-time. We fought them. I thought we didn't deserve to lose today. I thought we were better."
Redknapp told The Sun: “They’ve got a big chance of winning the lot. They’re the team to beat and have a fantastic squad.
“The league’s going their way, for sure. You wouldn’t bet against them to win the Champions League and it’ll be the big four in the semi-finals of the FA Cup.”
“Let’s be honest, we played the best team in Europe. It wasn’t their kids.
“They started with two, but they came off ‘pretty lively’. Vidic comes on, Giggs comes on. That back four they ended up with is very strong. “When there’s a trophy to be won, Alex wants to win. Makes no mistake, he’s not going to play a load of kids and, if they get beat, say ‘unlucky.’”
Ledley King
"We are aware in finals one team has to win and one team has to lose, but I thought we gave a good account of ourselves," King told Sky Sports.
"Penalties is never a nice way to lose.
"People will say they (United) had a weakened team but they still had top players out in a team they obviously thought could win.
"We thought we could win it and we created some good chances during the game and we got a little bit tired and we had to hang on.
"But I can't fault the lads for the effort we put in."
Jermaine Jenas:
"It's physically and mentally draining and when you don't win it's heartbreaking," Jenas told ITV, "You go through an abundance of emotions but we have to pick ourselves. We haven't got time to dwell on this."
