Kiko Strikes Again

Football - Sunderland v Manchester United Barclays Premier League

Last week Kiko Macheda came off the bench and won Manchester United the Premier League match against Aston Villa in stoppage time, this week he again came off the bench and he again won the game for Man United.

Nobody would have expected the impact that this 17 year old made, two appearances, two goals and two wins. Yesterday Manchester United went 1-0 up against Sunderland thanks to a Paul Scholes header, you don't often say that.
We were pegged back to 1-1 after some poor defending and Kenwyne Jones was there for Sunderland to put the ball into the back of the net.

Kiko came off the bench and he had only been on the pitch for around 46 seconds when he directed Carrick's shot towards goal to give Man United another vital win. Kiko has saved our season.

Man United did start off well, we could have been 1-0 up within 30 seconds from a Wayne Rooney shot. Nemanja Vidic had a shot cleared off the line, we could have scored but Sunderland had plenty of bodies standing on the line.

After the Scholes goal, we sat back a bit and didn't go for the second which I think gave Sunderland some confidence to attack us. Sunderland didn't have too many opportunities but when they did it was because of some good crosses by Edwards.
Before their goal, United were given a warning when Sunderland hit the post.

To be fair, after Sunderland had scored we did go for the winner and it was all one way traffic. Fergie did make a substitution and what a sub it was- Kiko Macheda.

Once Sunderland scored there was a bit of 'here we go again' moment, Manchester United haven't kept a clean sheet for what seems like ages now. But up stepped Kiko and what a substitute he could become, I would like to see him start but he is only 17 and there is no need to rush him.

After we were 2-1 up we looked comfortable and started knocking the ball around and keeping possession.

Liverpool had gone to the top of the table after a 4-0 win over Blackburn earlier on in the day, did that put pressure on the players? I'm not sure, but something I am sure about is if we want to beat Porto and then Everton in the FA Cup then we have to play an awful lot better than we are right now.
