Manchester United 5-2 Tottenham, Match Review

Yesterday I was at a family party throughout the day and most of the night so I was unable to watch Manchester United vs Tottenham Hotspur LIVE but luckily for me there is such a thing called technology. I had goal updates throughout the match to my mobile and I recorded the game and watched it when I got home.

When I was getting the goal updates I honestly thought that someone was winding me up, it isn't often that Man United go 2-0 down at Old Trafford.

First half was a bit of a stinker for United, Bent had a great opportunity in the early stages of the first half when he wasn't picked up in the penalty area, he did have a tight angle but his header was knocked behind for a corner by Van Der Sar.

Bent got Tottenham's first goal when Corluka's ball in went past Vidic and Bent got the ball past Ferdinand and scored. Only minutes later Spurs got a second, Lennon's ball in from the right went straight past Man United's defenders to Corluka who wasn't being picked up and he hit it past Van Der Sar to put the visitors 2-0 up. Spurs had scored two goals and that was mainly because of some awful defending by Man United.

We did have a great chance before the break, Berbatov was fouled so Ronaldo took the freekick, the freekick itself hit the ball but the ball rebounded back to Ronaldo who hit a fantastic shot towards goal which brought out a magnificant save by Tottenham goalie Gomes.

Second half and the game changed after Man United were handed a penalty after Carrick was brought down in the penalty area. Replays showed that Gomes did get the ball but I can understand why Howard Webb got it wrong and I would be saying that if it was given against United. 56 minutes played, Ronaldo stepped up and scored his first of the afternoon.

That penalty spurred Manchester United on and the rest of the match we played amazingly. Rooney scored a stunning team goal to draw United level, Berbatov was just onside after being played onside by Woodgate, Tevez played the ball to Rooney who ran into the penalty area and slotted the ball past Gomes.

United's third goal came not long after that, Rooney's ball into the penalty are area was headed into the back of the net by Ronaldo, this put United 3-2 up. Three goals in 10 minutes.

Some great play by Man United started off with Berbatov who got the ball to Ronaldo, Ronaldo chipped the ball over the Spurs defenders to Rooney who hit the ball towards goal and Gomes plus his defenders didn't manage to claw the ball off the line. The ball was over and Howard Webb gave the goal. Man United scored four times in less than 15 minutes.

Tottenham did have a chance in the second half, it fell to Bent but his shot went just past the posts.

There was one more goal left in the match, and it came from the back, Vidic passed to Tevez, he found Berbatov, Berbatov passed to Rooney down the left, Rooney took the ball towards the penalty area and his ball in found Berbatov, Berbatov's first header was saved by Gomes but the rebound fell to him and Berbatov knocked the ball over the line and scored past his former club.

This stunning win gave Manchester United three points and took us back upto the top of the Premier League table. What a way to warm up for the Champion's League game against Arsenal this Wednesday.
