Wayne Rooney was hit hard on the ribs by the ball at the end of the first half of the game against Porto and that has now made Rooney a doubt for Saturday's game against Sunderland. Manchester United's medical staff are hoping that Rooney is just suffering from bad bruising.
It looks like we will be without Rio Ferdinand (groin), Jonny Evans (groin), Wayne Rooney (ribs), Dimitar Berbatov (ankle), Anderson (thigh), Wes Brown (ankle) and Rafael (ankle) who are all injured. The good news is that Nemanja Vidic and Paul Scholes will return from suspension.
We can only hope that at least some of these players will be fit for the vital game against Porto next Wednesday.
