Can Tevez Really Stay For Free?

Premier League: United Win Manchester Derby

I woke up this morning to the rumour that Manchester United could sign Carlos Tevez for free. Can Man United really sign Tevez for free?

The SunSport are reporting that Man United are looking through Tevez' loan contract to see if there are any legal loopholes which could mean that United could sign Tevez without having to pay £30million. United are particularly looking at Tevez' third party ownership agreement.

Sports lawyers are looking into the ownership of Tevez by MSI to see if it could be challenged. MSI are currently asking Man United to pay a fee of £32million for Tevez but United don't want to pay that amount.

Tevez signed his contract with MSI in South America which is outside of the EU jurisdiction. Tevez is playing in Europe which means that his contract could be challenged within the EU.

If Tevez does sign with United on a free transfer that would mean he would have to sever all ties with MSI and his advisor Kia Joorabchian. Joorabchian did an interview with skysports yesterday saying that it is probable that Tevez will leave United for Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Everton, Manchester City or another Premier League club.

I can see this getting very messy and the main problem I could see is that Tevez is loyal. Would he really turn on MSI and the people who have helped him?
