United Open Talks With Gremio

Man United have reportedly opened talks with Gremio over the potential signing of Douglas Costa. Man United have been linked with many players who have been labelled as either 'Ronaldo's replacement' or the 'next Ronaldo'.

Douglas is only 18-years-old but he has been monitored by Man United for over a year now.

Man United's United’s scout in Brazil, John Calvert-Toulmin did recommend Douglas to Sir Alex Ferguson sometime last year but the Ferdie decided to wait a year before making any enquiries.

It is thought that the attacking midfielder has a £21 million release cause in his current contract with Gremio. He is still contracted with Gremio for a further four years.
Douglas is rumoured to have a £21 million release clause in his contract, which still has four years left to run, but United are hopeful of securing him for less than that.

The Brazillian Under 20 international is left-footed and has been compared to the likes of fellow Brazilian Ronaldhino.

“There have been informal conversations and I believe United would match those values,” Cesar Bottega, Douglas’s agent, told the Times.

“At the end of the Brasileirão [the South American league championship that ends in December], Douglas will be worth at least twice that.”
