Man United Cancel Match After Bomb Blasts

Manchester United have been forced to cancel their tour of Indonesia due to bomb blasts which have gone off in Jakarta. One of the bombs that went off was in a hotel which Man United were due to stay in.

Man United have confirmed that based on advice that they received received, the Directors have informed the Indonesian FA that the Club cannot fulfil the fixture in Jakarta on their Asia tour.

Man United were due to play an Indonesian Super League XI on Monday 20 July at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium but now this can't go ahead.

Speaking at a press conference at the team hotel in Malaysia, Gill said: “There are various things we’re looking at. We could bring the Indonesian team here. It’s a possibility and something we’re looking at. We’ll go through all the different possibilities and evaluate which is the most appropriate.

“In all probability [the United tour party] will stay here [in Kuala Lumpur]. But there are lots of things to be done before we sort out the logistics for the rest of the week.”

The match against a Malasia XI is still going ahead tomorrow and this is a new conference shortly when United will tell us their plans.

This is tragic news and my thoughts are with the families and friends of everyone who is affected.
