Defensive Problems For United

Ahead of the Community Shield this Sunday Man United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Man United have a few injury woes.

You should know that Edwin Van Der Sar is injured and will be out for two months. Fergie has confirmed that whoever plays out of Ben Foster and Tomasz Kuszczak, they will be Man United's number one until Van Der Sar returns.

Sir Alex has also confirmed that Nemanja Vidic will miss the first game of the season against Birmingham, a week on Sunday. He should be Ok for the second match against Burnley.

Wes Brown should be fit and ready for the start of the season and Gary Neville is struggling with a groin injury.

"Everyone is fit apart from Wes, Vidic and Neville," Sir Alex said during his press conference.
"Gary has done a bit of training, and he is coming along fine. And I expect Wes to be fit for the Birmingham match.

"Vidic is another week or two away and Edwin's injury is a bad one. He's out for 8-10 weeks, of course. So my first selection dilemma for Sunday is in goal."
