Manchester United vs Birmingham City Preview

MANCHESTER UNITED V VALENCIA CF

The Premier League started off today with Arsenal beating Everton 6-1, Manchester City won and Chelsea won. It is tomorrow that both Man United and Liverpool start off their seasons.

Man United will take on Birmingham at 1:30 GMT tomorrow and I can’t wait.

Man United have defensive problems, Jonny Evans was sent home before Northern Ireland’s midweek game with an injury. Nemanja Vidic won’t be fit and Ben Foster has a knee injury but he may be fit. Wes Brown is expected to return after injury but he hasn’t played at all throughout pre-season. Club captain Gary Neville is also doubtful with a groin injury.
Edwin Van Der Sar is going to be out with a hand injury for quite some time yet and Rafael Da Silva is also out but he has a shoulder injury.

Squad: Foster, Kuszczak, O'Shea, De Laet, Ferdinand, Brown, Evans, Evra, Fabio, Nani, Carrick, Scholes, Fletcher, Anderson, Giggs, Park, Tosic, Valencia, Owen, Rooney, Berbatov, Macheda.

Birmingham also have their own injury problems. Defenders Martin Taylor and Liam Ridgewell are definitely out. Birmingham are also without Marcus Bent, Scott Dann, Giovanny Espinoza, David Murphy and Jordan Mutch.

Squad: Hart, Taylor, Carr, Roger Johnson, Queudrue, Vignal, Parnaby, Larsson, Carsley, Ferguson, McSheffrey, Damien Johnson, Fahey, McFadden, Jerome, O'Connor, Phillips, Benitez, Sammons, Wilson.

Birmingham are without many players and no offence to them but they aren’t one of the top sides so they don’t have a massive squad. We also have injuries but we also have a large squad, which is full of quality.

You never know what can happen on the first day of the season, the last few seasons’ we have drawn against Reading and Newcastle and Arsenal beat Everton 6-1 today but I do expect United to win.

We are at Old Trafford, the players will be disappointed with the Chelsea loss last Sunday and they will perform. I am sure that we will win whether it is 1-0 or 4-0 but I can’t see drawing or us loosing.

My prediction: Manchester United 2-0 Birmingham City.
