Man United forward Wayne Rooney has set himself a target to score 25 goals this season. After loosing Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez may rival fans believe that Man United won’t be as strong this season but Rooney believes he can make up for that.
"Of course 25 is a target which I hope I'm going to reach," Rooney told Sky Sports. "I've always said I should score more and hopefully I'll do that this season.
"I've got what I wanted. I like to play through the middle.
"The manager has come out now and said I am going to play there throughout the season so I'm delighted with that.
"He may change his mind, and whatever he says goes, but I hope he will play me there for most of the season. If I keep scoring goals I will justify it."
"I am comfortable with the extra responsibility now Cristiano has gone," Rooney added
"There have been big expectations on me for the last seven years so whether he was here or not I would still have that.
"But I have never looked at myself as being the main man. It is a team game. I won't win a trophy on my own".
We have heard quite a few players say that they will make up the goals but I honestly believe that it will be Rooney’s and Luis Nani’s season.
I doubt he will cross 20 to be honest.
Lets hope the 25 are for England!
Siddharth K- Thanks for your comment, it will be tough for him to get 20 but I think he can do it this season.
AntiManU- Thanks for your comment. Somehow I don't think he will score 25 for England.
