Champion's League Preview: Manchester United vs Wolfsburg

Manchester United vs FC Barcelona

Today Man United face German Champion’s Wolfsburg at Old Trafford in the Champions League. Tonight’s game could be a cracker, both teams like to attack and we could see plenty of goals.

Man United kicked off their Champion’s League campaign with a 1-0 win over Besiktas in Istanbul. Wolfsburg are currently topping the group on goal difference, because they beat CSKA Moscow 3-1 in Germany.

Edwin Van Der Sar has returned to first team training but he is still expected to be out for another week or two. Man United will also be without Ji-Sung Park who is suffering with a virus.

Michael Owen is a doubt because he missed training. I would expect him to be on the bench, I don’t think he would have started and if he is slightly doubtful- why risk it?

Wolfsburg only have one doubt, their midfielder Josue picked up a slight knock against Hannover at the weekend.

The Wolfsburg coach is expected to field a very attacking team, he does have lots of talent to choose from. Some names he could call on are Obafemi Martins, Grafite (he was very impressive against CSKA), Zvjezdan Misimovic and Edin Dzeko.

After shining in the past few matches, will Sir Alex start Ryan Giggs? We do have a game against Sunderland this weekend, so he could be rested.

I am sure there will be a few goals in this game both teams are strong upfront. United’s defence hasn’t been at it’s best recently, will they struggle tonight? How will Wolfsburg’s defence handle our forwards? It could be one of those great European games tonight.

Possible Man United starting XI- Foster, O’Shea, Vidic, Ferdinand, Evra, Valencia, Fletcher, Scholes, Nani, Berbatov and Rooney.

Predicted score line- Man United 3-1 Wolfsburg
