In 2007 when Foster returned to Old Trafford, many had high hopes for him and thought he would challenge Van Der Sar. Unfortunately Foster needed surgery for a cruciate ligament injury in his right knee. That kept him out of the start of the 2007-08 season. Foster made his comeback in March 2008 whilst playing for the reserves. After that he made a few appearances for the first team.

In September 2008 Foster played for Man United’s reserves against Blackburn Rovers, during the game Foster twisted his ankle and he was out injured until 14th October 2008.

A day before Man United competed in the 2008 FIFA Club World Cup (which we won) Foster broke his finger, which kept him out of first team action for a long time.

The next match that Foster played in was on the 1st March 2009, it was the Carling Cup final. Foster kept a clean sheet throughout the game and we ended up winning on penalties.

Foster has now started every match of this season and he is enjoying a run as Man United’s number 1.

"I've really enjoyed being involved so far - it's what I've wanted," Foster ManUtd.com

"When you have a solid run in the team you can look forward to games in advance and settle down a bit more."

Foster said he was pleased with his form this term and hoped that it would help make an impression on England coach Fabio Capello, with the hope that he will make the squad for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
"I'm happy with what I've done so far and hopefully there's more to come," he said.

"Obviously the World Cup is in sight at the end of the season and it's therefore important that I do well in any games I play.

"I've started the season reasonably well and played every game so far, and long may it continue."
