During yesterday’s press conference ahead of tonight’s Champions League game, Man United manager Sir Alex Ferguson walked out. The press kept on asking him about his charge of improper conduct for his comments about referee Alan Wiley.
Sir Alex said that it was a stupid question and that he wasn’t going to comment but they weren’t going to take no for an answer, so understandably he walked out.
This week Sir Alex was charged by the Football Association after he called referee Alan Wiley ‘unfit’.
20 minutes into the press conference, he was asked how he felt about having to explain himself to the FA. Fergie replied, “Silly question, gets no answer”. A different reporter replied by saying: “It’s not a silly question”. Fergie’s response was then: “I’m not answering that”, he then got up said “good night” and walked out.
Some people may say that, that is ridiculous but Sir Alex has already spoken about it ahead of United’s 2-1 win over Bolton. This is a Champions League game and it was a UEFA Champions League press conference, his comments about referee Alan Wiley had nothing to do with tonight’s game.
Sir Alex has apologised to Wiley, he has been charged and he now has two weeks to respond to those charges. That should be the end of it until he responds to them, there is no point going over and over it again.
