Cardiff Rubbish Reports

Yesterday there were reports that Man United had beaten Arsenal to the signing of Cardiff City youngster Adam Matthews. The Cardiff boss Dave Jones has rubbished those reports insisting that there hasn’t been any Premier League offers for the player.

The City boss did say that if there were any offers from the big guns then it would be very hard for them not to accept the offer.

“We’ve had no offers for Adam Matthews,” Jones said.

“We have had to sell players in the past, but that’s not the case.

“We were able to keep hold of Joe Ledley last year and that shouldn’t be forgotten.

“We don’t have to sell anybody and, if a price came in for any of our players that was right, we would listen and look and see if it is best for this club and for the player.

“But there’s a difference with needing to sell and a big club coming in for one of your players.

“It was the same with Aaron Ramsey; how do you tell a teenager to stay here for the next four years and forget about Arsenal and playing in the Champions League?”

Jones went on to say: “There is going to be interest in any good players"

“Last week it was the same with Peter Whittingham and Jay Bothroyd.

“Sometimes I think people are bored and have nothing better to do than pick a name because someone is doing well and throwing a club at them.

“There is always speculation. It is not a bad thing because it means the players in question are doing well.

“Personally I hope we get an offer for every player in January because it means they are doing well and we would have a big decision to make.

“Right now there is no decision to make.

“If something concrete is there, I’m sure this football club will let you know straight away.”
